Meet Scott
The Scherer journey begins with Scott, who discovered his love for construction at a young age. At just 14 years old, he was introduced to the industry working alongside a custom builder on high-end additions and remodels. His dedication and talent soon became evident, leading him to pursue higher education at Towson University, where he earned a degree in Business Management.
After college, Scott embarked on an exciting adventure with a large global company, supporting mega projects in various industries, ranging from nuclear and civil infrastructure to solar power plants. While he gained valuable experience, Scott yearned for a more hands-on approach to his work. In 2011, he founded Scherer Contracting with his wife, Kelly, to pursue their passion projects, primarily catering to friends and family.
However, Scott’s longing for the residential building world grew stronger, leading him to join a prominent local production builder. There, he managed their materials department, gaining insights into the intricate workings of the industry. Eager to expand his project management expertise and venture into the commercial realm, Scott joined a local commercial construction firm. As Vice President of their construction division, he thrived, but the calling to fully dedicate himself to Scherer Contracting became irresistible.
Scott made the bold decision to leave his executive position and focus wholeheartedly on their company. With each project, he aimed to return to his roots, infusing residential building with his genuine love for construction.
Meet Kelly
Kelly has always had a passion for design. As a child, she moved frequently, absorbing various styles and design elements from all over the United States. From the southern comfort of Alabama to the modern mountain trends of Colorado, to the boho coastal vibes of Hawaii and the traditional sophistication of Massachusetts and New Jersey, Kelly was captivated. This fascination grew into a love for design and style, which she pursued by studying liberal arts at Virginia Tech.
As an adult, she’s had the opportunity to bring together these diverse influences, harmonizing them to shape the styles of her own homes. When fate brought Scott and Kelly together, they quickly realized that their unique strengths complemented each other perfectly. With her background in Human Resources, where people have always been her customers, she found a natural transition into Scherer Contracting, where their clients are at the forefront of everything they do.
